We didn't want to end up paying a small fortune at our local garden centre we started hunting for alternative places to buy from (even before the credit crunch). After trawling through the local papers, the yellow pages, the Thompson Directory (just to name a few!) and driving around and looking for small growers and nurseries we stumbled across the wonderful world of Trade Auctions.
We soon found out that the only drawback buying plants from a trade auction, is you have to buy bulk lots (e.g. 45+ of one particular type of plant). Most weekends we normally end up with lots of plants sat in our glasshouse waiting to be planted. This started to become a problem as we only had a standard 6” x 4” glasshouse. Initially we started sharing the plants we bought with friends and neighbours, then someone suggested that we sell all the excess plants we have on the Internet

Huntingdongardens.com started as a fun way to talk about our hobby, growing plants.
Since we started gardening in 1997 we have changed the layout of our garden and the plants so many times. The hardest thing we found was sourcing good quality plants at really low prices.
